Practice Information
Practice Philosophy
I aim to improve your health by tailoring treatment to your needs and
wishes. This means I take
an individual approach to your condition and I use “best practice”
medicine to ensure the best
possible health outcome.
Treatment Options
Surgery isn’t always the best treatment for an Orthopaedic problem.
In some cases the best
option will be a non-surgical approach such as Physiotherapy or a
corrective exercise program.
Even when surgery is appropriate you should realise it is not without
risk, nor is it a cure-all.
For these reasons I recommend surgery only when I believe it is the
best way to alleviate your condition and promote better health.
The Consultation
You are welcome to bring a friend or family member if you wish.
During the first part of the Consultation I will ask about you symptoms
and how they effect
your life.
I will take a detailed history of your condition, conduct a thorough
physical examination and
review any test results, x-rays or medical reports.
I will explain your condition and discuss your health outcome goals. I
will then present some
treatment options and help you decide on the best course of action.
When we have agreed on a treatment approach I will provide an outline of
what to expect along the way.
You will be given printed information for later reference and I
encourage you to ask questions
and take notes if you wish.

Financial Information
Once it has been determined that you need an operation, I will be
able to provide you with a cost estimate for your surgery. This can be a
confusing area and the office staff will readily offer you assistance in
navigating the financial part of your surgery. This includes help with
paper work,
hospital admissions, medical fund rebate and the like.
The standard fee charged in this office is the Australian Medical
Association recommended fee in
most areas. This means that in most instances there will be a portion of
your surgical fee which
will not be covered by Medicare or your Health Fund. I will tell you the
approximate gap prior to receiving treatment. Insurers have different
arrangements with each Hospital and in the way they handle claims. You
should check with your Insurer prior to surgery to get a more accurate
assessment of out for pocket expenses. Please be advised that when you
have an operation
there is a fee for your attending surgeon, his assistant, the
anaesthetist and the hospital as well
as ancillary services such as physiotherapy.
My staff are fully informed about charges and rebates and will be
able to help you navigate your
way through this complex area.
